a combination case of single tooth internal bleaching on the very discoloured front tooth along with full mouth bleaching of all the other teeth. In this case we were fortunate to get a good match of the two front teeth both whitening to the same level, in some instaces it may be necessary to use venner(s) to match the front teeth
An example of tetracycline discolouration which can cause significant darkening of all the teeth. This occurs when a particular type of antibiotic is taken during childhood, resulting in a very characteristic deep dark staining. Whitening is most successfully achieved using a low dose carbamide peroxide in specially construced trays worn at night time for a period of 4-16 weeks. Results like this one are typical where the edges of the teeth go very bright and the necks of the teeth less so. In this instance the patient was pleased with the results - if he had wanted the necks of the teeth to whiten we would have considered veneers.
